Openlight Carers Matter is a group designed to enhance the social, recreational, and wellbeing opportunities for carers of a child, parent, or partner with a disability or chronic illness.
As an Openlight Carers Matter member you are invited to join information events, gain mentorship from a carer who has been in a similar situation, attend events with likeminded individuals, attend workshops, access to advocacy through numbers and attend our once a year retreat for carers.
Each year Openlight Carers Matter hosts one male and one female retreat. While away members are provided an opportunity for some well-earned respite, relaxation, education, and a chance to share experiences. Enabling carers to return to their roles refreshed and rejuvenated.
Our Retreat program outlines workshops such as stress management, positive outlook to life, lots of sharing stories, quiet times, and workshops. We also help carers to be more resilient and provide them with strategies, and resources to care for themselves.
Openlight Carers Matter members have the opportunity to use Cooinda Holiday House for family vacations. Cooinda Holiday House is a member benefit of Carers Matter and is offered exclusively to members for a reduced rate.
Your family can stay in picturesque Victor Harbor and enjoy a rural camping experience only minutes from the city centre.
Up to 10 people can be accommodated in the homestead with self-catering facilities available.
Openlight Carers Matter hosts a female and male retreat each year to support carers who have a family member with a disability or chronic illness. As carers ourselves, we recognise how important it is for carers to have the ability to have a break.
This year our female retreat, Southern Belles, is being held on the weekend of October 23rd-25th at our Openlight campsite.
Our theme is rock n roll and it will be great to see everyone dressed up as their favourite rock n roll singer/band or rock era on Saturday night. There will be a guest speaker, as well as an opportunity for a massage. Every lady has lots of fun, makes new friends, and returns home feeling rejuvenated.
